The groWING UP series combines self-reflection with childhood development theories. Empty children’s clothing and oversized toys encourage an exploratory mindset in the viewer. Play and discovery are used as an entry point, inviting viewers to fill these figural vessels with their own childhood memories and questions: How did we grow into the adults we are now, and is there room for change and further growth? My hope is that the answer is yes.
Motherhood in Modernity
This series reflects the simultaneous elation and emotional erosion that coalesced into my experience of early motherhood. Modena (the archetypal perfect parent) is juxtaposed with abstracted challenges and seemingly insurmountable foes as I authentically address the exhausted, in-the-trenches realities of a working mother.
